Guidelines for Qualifications, Education, and Training of
SARP Writing Team (SWT) Members

The Packaging Certification Program (PCP) retains the right to approve applicants with less than full qualification based upon review of the credentials, experience, or alternate qualifications of individual team members and/or the SWT as a whole.

Team Member Qualifications Education Training
SWT Manager Prior participation as a SWT member that received certification from DOE or NRC;

10 years experience in engineering design, testing, and/or analysis that includes 2 years in RAM packaging;

3+ years experience generating technical documentation that includes 1 year in writing SARPs;

Working familiarity with:
  • DOT hazmat regulations
  • 10 CFR 71
  • DOE packaging Orders
  • NRC packaging Reg Guides
  • DOE Packaging Review Guide
 B.S. or equivalent in Physical Science, Engineering, or Mathematics LLNL SARP Reviewer course;

SRNL Management of SARP Preparation course
Chapter 1,
General Information 		7 years experience (or a current P.E. license and 4 years experience) in engineering design, testing, and/or analysis that includes 4 years in RAM packaging;

2+ years experience generating technical documentation that includes 1 year in writing SARPs;
