  • Fundamentals of Nuclear Security, July 30th to August 3rd 2018, Albuquerque, NM
     A comprehensive overview of nuclear security, introducing key concepts, terms and approaches that support both domestic and international efforts.  Participants will demonstrate an understanding of credible threats to nuclear material, associated facilities, activities and information. This is achieved through understanding various stakeholders in nuclear security, best practices for physical protection, factors that enhance nuclear security effectiveness, as well as IAEA Nuclear Security Series guidance.  The course consists of expert-taught lectures, class exercises, facility tours, groups presentations, and a final exam.

    For this initial offering of the course, there is no fee/tuition to attend.

    Fundamentals of Nuclear Safeguards, October 22nd to October 26th, 2018, Oak Ridge, TN
    A comprehensive overview of nuclear safeguards, key concepts, terms and approaches that support both domestic nuclear material control and accountability as well as international safeguards.  Participants will demonstrate an understanding of nuclear material accounting, nuclear material control, measurement and measurement control, and how these functions integrate with nuclear security. This is achieved through understanding various stakeholders in nuclear safeguards, best practices for safeguards, factors that enhance nuclear safeguards effectiveness, as well as IAEA Nuclear Security Series guidance.  The course consists of expert-taught lectures, class exercises, facility tours, groups presentations, and a final exam.
